Flexible LED modules let a screen rise from the floor and curve overhead into a canopy. Here is how the walk-under LED portal in this photo was built.
What you are looking at
The photo shows a walk-under LED portal during installation: one continuous LED surface rises vertically on the left, bends through a tight radius and continues overhead as a ceiling, before curving down again on the right. There is no visible seam at the bend — the image flows around the curve as one canvas.
The structure is finished in white with green LED edge-lighting that traces its outline and continues along the stairs, and the crew is still working on the floor under protective sheeting. In the background, a second arched LED structure can be seen on the main stage.
Why flexible modules are a trend
Standard LED cabinets are rigid, so curves are built from many flat panels at small angles. Flexible LED modules use a soft PCB and a magnetic mounting system instead, so they follow the substrate they are mounted on — convex, concave or, as here, a floor-to-ceiling bend.
The result is a screen that behaves like a material rather than a box, which is why designers now draw LED into walls, columns and ceilings from the first sketch.

The method behind it
A curved LED build starts with the frame, not the screen: the steel or timber sub-structure is fabricated to the exact radius, then flexible modules are fixed magnetically so the surface stays smooth. Content is rendered to the unrolled pixel map, so the skyline or artwork keeps its proportions when it wraps overhead.
When to choose it
Choose flexible LED when the screen has to be part of the architecture — entrances, tunnels, round columns, curved ceilings. For large flat backdrops, rigid rental cabinets remain faster and more economical.
